Nipashe: 7th July 2014: Shadow Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Pastor Peter Msigwa, (pictured) has bombed one hunting company of carrying out illegal hunting while having a valid hunting license.
Msigwa has also criticized the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, for continuing to defend the company despite the fact that it has broken the rules of hunting by using private cars, unprofessional hunting and using children to hunt.
Before talking to the press yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Msigwa showed the DVD of how the company is involved in illegal activities while conducting its operations, including injuring animals, killing of female animals, playing with zebra calves, children hunting and killing of black and white bellied bustards and use of weapons fitted sound proof equipment.
He said despite presenting the video to Parliament in May this year, during the budget parliamentary session, the government has remained silent while the company continues to hunt animals as they like.
He said after exposing the video he expected the government will take urgent measures to save the economy as the company very clearly is seen committing crimes against animals, violating international and Tanzania hunting laws and regulations.
He said despite the serious violations of wildlife act of 2009 the government has failed to take action which reveals the existence of companies that own hunting blocks in the name of local investors while it the real fact the companies are owned by foreigners
“Given the bluntness of this government in managing and overseeing our resources, preventing illegal and random hunting that that promotes poaching and threatening the fate of natural resources and tourism of this country, the company violated section 42 of the Act of wildlife of 2009, which defines that any person who wounds an animal will be required to make all efforts to the best of his ability to killing the animal within the shortest possible time, “said Msigwa.
